Good Morning (Afternoon/Evening) from wherever you are reading this!
It’s been a productive month on my end since we last spoke. My last correspondence notified the ceasing of chapter releases on this platform. And, as promised, I am posting to provide you some very exciting updates!
First things first:
I have just signed a self-publishing agreement for The Pawn!
( ^^ a very accurate depiction of how I celebrated post-signing on the dotted line ^^ )
In the wise words of Austin Powers, “But what does it all mean, Basil?”
In short: The Pawn will be reviewed and formatted into both eBook and paperback format to be purchased via online retailers (Amazon, Booktopia, Barnes and Noble etc.)
Between cover designs that will begin in June and the work that will be undertaken to get this bad boy ready to make its debut (in its entirety) to the big wide world, I am estimating the launch of The Pawn on these platforms to be late October/early November this year.
In preparation for this launch, I will be leaving the first three chapters on Substack for readers and taking down the rest.
If you would like to sign up for an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) before the book is released, providing a review on Goodreads and Amazon, please send me a message and I will be in touch!
In other news…
The working title for Book#2 is The Decoy.
I am deep in the writing cave, working hard on the first draft. I’d guestimate this is sitting around 5% completed. This number is merely an estimation as I am a bit of a ‘pantser’ writer and tend to have extra scenes that come to mind that I have to write in that moment. Some of these scenes are bonus chapters, chapters for the third and fourth books etc. Despite my best efforts in writing chronologically, my little ADHD brain has other ideas sometimes. I’ve learnt to go with the flow and ride the waves of creativity as they come; it all comes together eventually.
But! Let me tell you, I am in love with this book already. The more I delve into this world, the different characters and storylines, the more excited I become with this piece of work and sharing it with you.
What can you expect from The Decoy?
The Pawn is an introductory book, with a first person POV. The second book has multiple POV following a number of plots and storylines that have been breadcrumbed throughout The Pawn.
Some of the tropes you can expect in The Decoy (which are also present in The Pawn) are:
Fated mates.
Forbidden love.
Secret/hidden identity.
Dark secrets.
I am hoping to have this book finalised by the end of the year/early next year. My aim is to have The Decoy available for sale roughly six months after the release of The Pawn.
A Teaser Excerpt from The Decoy
“Rest assured little Salistya,” his soft voice so at odds with the person I knew him to be, made his tone all the more deadly. “By the time our year is up together, you and harsh conditions will be the best of friends.”
He pulled away. But not before his tongue darted out, licking up the side of my ear.
His eyes were predatory as his tongue skimmed his lower lip, teeth sinking into it, “And what a beautiful, broken sight you’ll be.”
That is all for now on the update front! A lot happening, all very exciting.
